Signal notes
- AI Performance Intelligence analyzes campaign and automation performance against billions of signals across the ActiveCampaign platform and alerts marketers when results beat or trail sector peers, with no user prompting.
- AI Content Optimization sends alerts when content performance drops and recommends adjustments.
- AI Behavior Customization lets users define brand voice and priorities once and apply them platform-wide; agencies can manage these profiles across all client accounts, with governance and trust controls included.

ActiveCampaign has shipped two additions to its Active Intelligence suite: agent-to-user AI that benchmarks campaign performance, and AI personalization controls that let users define how the platform's AI behaves across accounts.
The features target the company's SMB customer base and its agency partners. No pricing details accompanied the announcement.
Benchmarking against the platform
The first capability, AI Performance Intelligence, continuously analyzes campaign and automation performance against billions of signals across the ActiveCampaign platform. It flags what is outperforming, what is underperforming, and why — with no user prompting required.
The system alerts marketers when campaign performance runs better or worse than other campaigns in their sector that use ActiveCampaign. The AI also pinpoints the specific creative, timing, and audience factors driving the difference.
A related feature, AI Content Optimization, sends alerts when content performance drops and recommends adjustments to improve results.
"AI Performance Intelligence is the future of autonomous marketing," said Chai Atreya, ActiveCampaign's chief product and technology officer. "It uses real-time intelligence signals from campaigns and automations and requires no user prompting."
The pitch against ChatGPT and Claude
Atreya positioned the new capabilities against general-purpose LLMs that marketers already use for copywriting and subject lines. His argument: generic models lack vertical and account-level context.
"Yes, ChatGPTs and Claudes will have the broad context, but the deeper insightful elements, by industry, by vertical, by tool… only a specialized, well-thought-out, in-depth platform can solve for that, specifically for marketer personas, specifically for your brand, specifically looking at your past campaigns and what has worked and what has not worked," Atreya said.
The goal is to keep users inside the platform rather than bouncing out to external AI tools.
"Unlocking all of that, and then making it something that you're not setting up all the time — that is the delight that AI should unlock, otherwise you're throwing the problem back at the user," he added.
Atreya also framed AI as a scale mechanism for optimization work that manual processes cap.
"[Marketers] are now able to optimize their campaigns at scale using AI as an ideation platform, a strategy platform, otherwise you're constrained by the human ability to fine-tune contact by contact or A/B testing of your campaigns," he said.
AI Behavior Customization
The second feature, AI Behavior Customization, introduces custom AI instructions that configure how Active Intelligence operates across the platform.
Users define their company's brand voice, priorities, and strategic preferences once. The AI then applies those instructions everywhere — in recommendations, campaign creation, and automations — so outputs reflect how the business actually markets.
For agencies, the feature works across multiple accounts. Agencies using ActiveCampaign can apply and manage AI behaviors across all of their accounts, tailoring the intelligence to each client.
"For partners, this provides the ability to further productize the unique expertise of their clients via the AI customization profiles," Atreya said.
ActiveCampaign is also shipping governance and trust controls alongside AI Behavior Customization.
What it means
The release continues ActiveCampaign's stated shift away from what it calls classic marketing automation, toward AI-driven automation for SMBs. The benchmarking feature is the notable piece: performance comparison against sector peers is data a standalone LLM cannot offer, and it depends entirely on ActiveCampaign's own network scale.
Atreya said user response to Active Intelligence so far has been very positive, which the company reads as a signal it is moving in the right direction.
"There really is strong value at the grassroots level that our customers are seeing, and that is what is leading us to go down the path of 'That was just the starting point,'" he said.
What remains untested is whether the alerts and recommendations translate into measurable campaign lift. The company did not publish benchmarks, customer counts, or case data with the announcement.
